And Now… We Learn

You guys, I am EXHAUSTED. What a month! (Or three, depending on when I last posted, which I’m not comfortable looking for an actual date.) I’ve been busy the last couple of weeks, with Storymakers, then writing, working through some personal things that I won’t get into here, and lots of fun outside things that made life fun, but wasn’t so great for my keeping up on my blog. My Social Media (both @thewritingpeasant and @rebekahisertauthor) has also similarly suffered. Even my writing slowed down, but that was also because of mental exhaustion as well as a lack of time.

WELL. What did I do with my time? Well, first of all, I had my first book signing. I was going to Provo, UT anyway to attend the Storymakers Conference, and I decided that it would be worth my while to hold a little book signing to see what would come up.

Guys, it was TOTALLY worth my while. As numbers go, it definitely wasn’t the Largest Book Signing Ever, but I had people come and support, and it was absolutely WONDERFUL and humbling to meet people (and people that I didn’t know, besides!) who enjoyed my work. Sometimes my brain only focuses on the negative reviews, and it’s kind of wonderful to remember that most people who have read my work have actually liked it. Thanks to everyone who came!

Then, we had Storymakers (and I got a hair cut! Haha). You guys, I learned so much. I was feeling a little burned out before I went, but there were so many little things that I was reminded of – not just stuff to improve in my own writing, but also little reminders on why I love writing in the first place. The Whitneys were awesome (congratulations to everyone who were nominated and won!) and I felt legit like a princess. I’m already planning next year’s outfit, and definitely taking some of the learning experiences that we had along the way. Such a great time, and I met SO MANY amazing people.

Over the last three weeks or so, I’ve been helping out with the youth groups at my church, working hard at my day job, and picking away at my WIP. It’s been great and fun, and I’ve learned so much! I’m still recuperating from everything that I’ve done and the hours that I’ve pulled (I am NOT a teenager anymore) but morale is high, and we’re doing great.

That’s all I have for now. Best wishes to all of you!

Onward and upward!
