MEET THE AUTHOR
Rebekah Isert
Rebekah Isert (pronounced “eyes-hurt”) was born on a cold winter night in Canada. Choosing to become a writer rather than an optometrist, she has enjoyed many different hobbies over the years, including jiu-jitsu, where she has earned her blue belt; counted cross stitch and crochet, where she learned patience; and being a college student. She earned an Associates in Science from Utah Valley University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Brigham Young University, with a minor in Creative Writing. She also served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Arizona and New Mexico.
Rebekah is a world traveler. As of 2021, she has been to 25 countries and 5 continents, with a strong desire to visit all 7 continents, even though Antarctica is very, very cold. Her love of travel was born by living in Russia for nine years during her growing-up years, and enjoying the different cultures across the world. She is a firm believer in general human goodness and has traveled far and wide enough that she feels well-researched in that regard.
Rebekah’s preferred genre is fantasy, and it’s many derivatives (high, low, and urban) but she enjoys pushing herself to new places, and has plans for novels in historical fantasy, science fiction, and contemporary fiction. As long as there is a story she wants to tell, she will tell it. However, Rebekah promises that no matter the genre, she will push herself to the highest standards of storytelling. Rebekah also admits that it’s very weird to talk about herself in the third person.
